It is not uncommon to see people standing in front of a Vending Machine and turning away because they don’t have exact change. It is also not uncommon for customers to be shaking the machine, in a bid to get the product they have paid for, which the machine has conveniently chosen to forget without having the courtesy to refund. These have collectively augmented the apprehension of users towards transacting at vending machines. Machines have sadly dawned a demonic reputation.
When we started looking at the Retail industry, we were amazed to see how most transactions were “failed transactions” as they captured very little customer data. At every point-of-sale, a very valuable part of the brand-building puzzle was being lost to poor data collection. This vacuum was being filled by expensive market research studies being undertaken by Brands. The same problem plagued the Automated Retail industry.
The deeper we went, the more convinced we were about the need to upgrade the industry. And thus, Vendour was born.
